A total of 185,734 families in Manila, or 48.77 percent of target beneficiaries under the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) financial aid of the national government, have already received their ayuda (aid).

In an interview with the Philippine News Agency, Manila Department of Social Welfare Director Maria Asuncion Fugoso said that to date, the total amount distributed has reached PHP710,752,000 as of 5 p.m. on Tuesday.

Despite ECQ restrictions, the distribution is being carried out face-to-face but in an orderly manner.

“The distribution is peaceful and orderly, and we see to it that social distancing is strictly observed,” Fugoso said.

She said the Manila Police District helps maintain peace and security in the payout areas while village officials organize the distribution process.

The city government of Manila received PHP1,523,280,000 from the national government for distribution to 380,820 families.

Each beneficiary can receive PHP1,000 or a maximum of PHP4,000 per family.

“Panawagan natin sa mga beneficiaries, make sure na dala na nila ang barangay certificate and valid ID to prevent delays in the distribution, at tsaka sundin ang oras na sinabing schedule sa kanila (We call on the beneficiaries to make sure that they bring with them their barangay certificate and a valid ID to prevent delays in the distribution, and follow the schedule given to them),” Fugoso said.

Metro Manila is under ECQ until Aug. 20. (PNA)
