The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has identified some 56,750 indigent households as potential beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilya Pilipino Program (4Ps) for this year in Ilocos Region.

In a phone interview on Monday, 4Ps information officer Jaesem Ryan Gaces of the DSWD Ilocos regional office said the number was a target given by the 4Ps National Program Management Office (NPMO) to meet the 4.4 million national target.

He said of the total number 48,728 are from Pangasinan, 4,031 from Ilocos Sur, 3,230 from Ilocos Norte, and 761 from La Union.

“These are from the Listahanan 3 Database as a new set of potential 4Ps beneficiaries. These poor households with children below 18 years old or with a pregnant member at the time of assessment were identified based on the DSWD’s standardized targeting system (STS) as stipulated in the Republic Act No. 11310 or 4Ps Act,” he added.

Gaces said the beneficiaries who graduated and exited from the program nationwide have made slots available for new beneficiaries.

In Ilocos Region, 14,308 households graduated and exited the program as of December 2022.

He said the names of the potential 4Ps beneficiaries were posted in conspicuous places in their localities.

“During the Community Assembly, these potential 4Ps beneficiaries undergo a thorough process to ensure their eligibility to be included in the program,” he said.

All gathered information of the validated potential beneficiaries shall be encoded in the Pantawid Pamilya Information System (PPIS) for approval of the regional director and the generated approved list of potential beneficiaries from the PPIS shall be endorsed to the local government units for confirmation.

“Only the confirmed list of potential beneficiaries shall be eligible for an initial payment,” he said.

Gaces said there are 198,659 indigent household beneficiaries in the Ilocos Region as of February 13, 2023.

Of the total number, 129,228 are from Pangasinan, 28,300 from La Union, 23,362 from Ilocos Sur, and 17,769 from Ilocos Norte. (PNA)
