The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) 10 (Northern Mindanao) on Tuesday reminded newly elected officials of their crucial roles in working with stakeholders and maintaining transparency in public service.

During the Leadership Uplifting Service (Neo Plus) Orientation Program, DILG-10 Director Bruce Colao emphasized that local government units (LGUs) would progress collaboratively through partnerships for development.

“We will pursue continuous improvement in our LGUs in Lanao del Norte and Iligan City, from the executive and legislative departments under an atmosphere of collaboration for development without sacrificing checks and balances,” he said.

DILG launched the Neo Plus program for Northern Mindanao LGUs, with Lanao del Norte and Iligan City participating in the first batch.

The participants received vital information from the Office of Civil Defense on Disaster Risk Reduction and Management and updates on the economic situation from the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development.

Iligan City Mayor Frederick Siao, who attended the training, noted that the orientation challenges newly elected officials to listen better, plan wisely, and lead with heart, going beyond mere compliance or paperwork. (PNA)
