Mayor Rolando Uy on Monday bared that the first batch of 15 out-of-school youths will begin next week their Artificial Intelligence (AI) and other technology-based education training here.

Uy said the 15 selected youths are children of families belonging to the “poorest of the poor” and hopes more qualified beneficiaries will also benefit from the program.

“Oftentimes, these youths had to set aside their education so that their families can have food on their table. Education is supposed to be invaluable but because of the basic needs of the family it has become a second or third priority,” he said.

Uy said both the city’s private sector and independent donors support the youth’s education programs.

Likewise, he said a private partner has also offered a building as the youth’s training venue.

Uy also hopes that the first batch of trainees will inspire others to achieve a better future through the help of the local government and the private sector. (PNA)
