The Philippines is known for its fascinating bodies of water, which are perfect hangout places, especially during the summer season.

As the hot season in the country officially starts, here are some waterfall destinations near Metro Manila that you can visit alone or with your friends and family to beat the heat!

1. Daranak Falls

The Daranak Falls is located in the municipality of Tanay, and they are also claimed as the favorite tourist attraction in the province of Rizal.

This amazing waterfall only takes a 2-hour drive from the city of Manila.

Daranak Falls is also credited for being one of the most-filmed locations of numerous Philippine television dramas and movies.

Some people were captivated by the beauty of Daranak Falls, as it is sometimes chosen for a pre-nuptial photo shoot of lovers.

Before going to the falls, take note that it can be crowded during the weekends, and it’s suggested to go early to get a better view of the surroundings.

2. Taytay Falls

Located in Majayjay, Laguna, Taytay Falls is the crowd’s favorite summer spot in the province.

The waterfalls have a height of 15 centimeters, and it discharge purified and frosty waters that come from Mount Banahaw. This staggering waterfall is also a 3-hour road trip from the city of Manila.

Other than its breathtaking view, the falls were also known for the low temperature of the released waters, which can preserve cold drinking water to its coolest degree.

It is recommended that tourists visit the Taytay Falls and the Pagsanjan Falls in a one-day trip, which is a jam-packed vacation.

3. Balagbag Falls

The Balagbag Falls is located in the municipality of Real and is the largest, most accessible, and most fascinating waterfall in Real, Quezon.

This spot is at the very foot of the Sierra Madre, which is a four-hour trip from Manila.

Balagbag Falls is composed of two levels that depend on the water level, which is why you should consider knowing it first before visiting the spot to avoid accidents.

Other than leisure, your visit will also be worthwhile, as fees collected at the Balagbag Falls will be used by the government to preserve the stunning cascade at Real, Quezon.

4. Malagaslas Falls

With just a three-hour drive from Manila, you can reach another amazing waterfall in Batangas called Malagaslas Falls!

The Malagaslas Falls is a multi-layered waterfall that also has small cascades that are perceived as multiple swimming pools by its tourists.

It is also a popular tourist destination among the locals, as it becomes overly crowded during weekends as well as weekdays.

The Malagaslas Falls is a 10-minute walk from the second falls of Sitio Salipit, which are called the Ambon-Ambon Falls and are the well-known falls located in the small city of Laurel, Batangas.

5. Ambon-Ambon Falls

The Ambon-Ambon Falls is a two-layered cascade that has a strong torrent and a 60-meter height recorded as the tallest waterfall in the whole municipality of Batangas.

A trip to Ambon-Ambon Falls is indeed a perfect getaway for your summer vacation, as you can both have a refreshing swim and discover enchanting scenery from the rock formations that surround it.

Besides swimming on the falls, it can also give you a gateway to the Panguil River Eco Park, where all other activities can be part of your adventures, such as hiking, balsa riding, and many more.

6. Malibiclibic Falls

The Malibiclibic Falls is located in the municipality of Aguinaldo, Cavite, and is known to have been created by the convergence of three rivers: Magallanes, Aguinaldo, and Maragondon.

To go to this refreshing spot, you need to drive for two hours from Manila to Cavite.

Before reaching Malibiclibic Falls, you may encounter big, stodgy boulders of rock in the middle of a rainforest, which is why it is considered a true hidden gem because it will require the tourist to exert efforts to climb a 600-meter hike.

But remember, tourists must be really careful, most likely during the rainy season, as the mossy rocks are extremely slippery and narrow.

The most recommendable season to visit the Malibiclibic Falls is from February to April when the current due to the three colliding rivers is not extremely strong and the water is limpid.

With these water wonders, there is no doubt that the Philippines is the best place to beat the heat! What are you waiting for? Pack your things and visit these breathtaking falls!
