Licypriya Kangujam, the eight-year-old Indian climate change activist who is raising her voice and campaigning against climate change inaction and the founder of “The Child Movement” is being recognized and getting praised by a lot of Filipinos due to her idea of converting all single-use plastic waste into school furniture items like bench, desk, whiteboard, and other products by recycling them.

By single use she means, plastics from chips packets, ice cream packets, polythene, and all types of plastics waste. And just recently she was able to produce house roof sheets and home tiles made up of recycled materials alone and it has the benefit of reducing the temperature up to 4-5°C.

In a world that is now filled with politics and money, we need more people like Licypriya who is pro-active when it comes to urging the government to take action and do things that will help save our planet and our future.  And here in the Philippines, though it is hard to make our government act, we can still do our part in our own little ways just like Licypriya’s idea of recycling. We can recycle and at the same time unleash our creative ideas by making crafts out of it.

Truth be told, money and whatever material things we have right now can’t really save us when the world gets destroyed. So, now that we still have the time to fix the things that we messed up, we should act now.

Remember, earth is the only home that we have so we must protect it. This way, the future generations will still be able to see the same beautiful Earth we grew up with.
