At least 50 Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) organizations benefited from the release of a PHP26.1-million seed capital fund during a series of distribution activities from July 16 to 31, the Department of Social Welfare and Development in the Caraga Region (DSWD-13) said Monday.

“The 50 organizations were from 10 municipalities and two cities in the provinces of Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, and Dinagat Islands,” the DSWD-13 said in its report.

In Agusan del Norte, 13 SLP groups were given PHP6.9 million in total capitalization, while 25 SLP clusters in Agusan del Sur were provided with funds totaling PHP11.4 million.

Twelve SLP associations from Cagdianao in Dinagat Islands also received their seed capital, amounting to PHP7.2 million.

One of the largest SLP assistance releases during the period was the PHP3-million capitalization to five associations in Cabadbaran City, Agusan del Norte. Of the recipient groups, four will use the capitalization to establish superstores in their localities, while the other one will be used for a food hub.

“The SLP is a capacity-building program that aims to improve the socio-economic well-being of the poor, vulnerable, and marginalized communities,” the DSWD-13 said.

Interventions through the SLP include access to productive resources, relevant skills training, and seed capital for micro-enterprises. (PNA)
