A website called “Forebears” released the Top 1000 most common surnames in the Philippines. Forebears is a directory of sources for family history research. Its objective is to compile variety of genealogical sources around the world.

Forebears was launched on June 12, 2012 and is still providing useful resources for family history.

Is this accurate, though?

Forebears.io claimed that they don’t contain the accurate database who are still alive and their place— there are no accurate and exact source. They are only base on statistics from sources like telephone directories that contain minimal number of people.

Forebears shared that the reason behind the website is to provide a more accessible material for studying family history.
