The faith and devotion of the Filipino Muslim community during the holy month of Ramadan month is a special time for introspection, renewal and peace.

It is a period that inspires unity and compassion, according to House of Representatives Speaker Martin Romualdez on Monday.

“As families across the Philippines and the world begin the observance of Ramadan, I want to extend my deepest and most heartfelt greetings to our Muslim brothers and sisters embarking on this sacred month,” Romualdez said in a statement.

He said Ramadan serves as an inspiration for Filipinos to become better individuals, reach out to those in need, and contribute toward a society that values peace and mutual respect.

“As you fast and reflect, know that you do not do so in isolation. The spirit of Ramadan, with its values of sacrifice, empathy, and charity, resonates beyond cultural and religious boundaries,” he said.

Romualdez said the holy month, which starts Tuesday in the Philippines, is a reminder that regardless of faith, it is necessary to “pause and ponder on our lives, our actions, and how we can contribute to a better, more understanding world.”

He vowed that the House of Representatives will support and protect the rights of the Muslim community.

“May this Ramadan bring you and your families peace, health, and happiness. May your prayers and sacrifices be accepted, and may this sacred time bring us closer together as a nation,” he said.
