Veteran Filipino filmmaker Lav Diaz announced that his film “History ani Ha” was selected as part of this year’s 65th BFI London Film Festival in the United Kingdom.

The leading man to star in the film is actor John Lloyd Cruz as Hernando Alamada, a Filipino vaudeville great and a former socialist cadre, who has a beloved doll named Ha.

According to the film’s official Facebook post, “He plods on an aimless journey. Akin to the Filipino ‘bodabil’, he finds himself on the gate of the theater of the absurd, a descent to burlesque, madness, to stark realities, and ultimately, an ascent to his own redemption,” the plot reads.

This film is under the category ‘Dare,’ which features stories of the ongoing reality of exploitation, described as “in-your-face and arresting – stories that take you out of your comfort zone.”

Historya ni Ha was shot in 2019 at Sibaltan, Palawan. The four hours and ten-minute long film will feature other notable artists including Teroy Guzman, Mae P. Paner, Dolly de Leon, Jonathan Francisco, Hazel Orencio, Earl Ignacio, Jun Sabayton, and Allen Alzola. The film will run from October 6 to 17.
