In its continuing effort to bring essential government services directly to the people, including overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), the Philippine government’s first Middle East leg of the Bagong Bayani ng Mundo: OFW Serbisyo Caravan has landed in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The Serbisyo Caravan in Riyadh, spearheaded by the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), in coordination with the Migrant Workers Office in Riyadh and the Philippine Embassy in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, was held in Makka, Mukaranmah Br. Road on Friday.

“Under the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to bring whole-of-government services closer to OFWs overseas, the Serbisyo Caravan gathers 12 government agencies in order to provide efficient, faster, and essential government services and programs to OFWs in Riyadh,” the DMW said in a news release.

Aside from the DMW and OWWA, OFWs in Riyadh will be able to easily access the services of various government agencies, including the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Trade and Industry, Public Attorney’s Office, PhilHealth, Social Security System, PAG-IBIG Fund, Land Bank of the Philippines, the Philippine Statistics Authority, Department of Information and Communications Technology, and the Philippine Embassy – Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The one-stop caravan offers OFWs a range of services, including free legal consultations, psychosocial counseling, contract verification, OWWA e-card processing, passporting, national ID registration, livelihood and reintegration programs, and business support assistance.

After the caravan, OWWA will also host an outreach and wellness event for OFWs and their families through the “Serbisyong May Saya” at the Greenhall Bowling Center.

The Serbisyo Caravan ensures that under the Bagong Pilipinas administration, OFWs are provided with all available services and programs within their reach to honor their sacrifices as the country’s modern-day heroes.

The first leg of the Serbisyo Caravan in Riyadh marks the first of several stops scheduled across the Middle East in July and August, following its successful launch in Hong Kong in June. (PNA)
