English singer, songwriter, and model, Dua Lipa wore an eye-catching outfit that pays homage to the Japanese anime series, One Piece.
The Popstar wore an outfit inspired by Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece in a recent Instagram post, following a photo with London-based stylist Lorenzo Posocco in honor of the stylist’s birthday and Milan Fashion Week, which ran from September 21 to September 27.

Lipa appears to be part of her own fanbase as she flaunted a matching crop top and skirt with a theme of the Straw Hat Pirates trademark -skulls and crossbones. Lipa, as a self-professed anime enthusiast, together wears a long black fringe hung from the skirt, which she matched with a pair of glittering blue and silver platform shoes.
The iconic One Piece is recognized as one of the most portrayed fashion logos and has previously partnered with different fashion labels such as Kappa and Gucci.
One Piece was initially serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1997, and it follows a crew of pirates known as the Straw Hats as they seek the One Piece treasure. The series is known for becoming the longest-running manga series to date, after reaching its thousandth chapter back in January.
Fans were not surprised by Lipa’s One Piece-inspired outfit, since it isn’t the first time the artist has referenced manga in her work. The music video for “Levitating,” from her 2020 album Future Nostalgia, was made with a group of independent Japanese animators and recreates the aesthetic of classic anime from the 1980s and early 1990s.
Lipa’s fanbase is well aware that she enjoys anime. The “One Kiss” singer revealed her favorite anime, Studio Ghibli’s Ponyo, during a Wired autocomplete interview in December 2020.
