Presidential daughter and Mayor Sara Duterte submitted herself for a voluntary, monitored home quarantine and signed up as a Person Under Monitoring (PUM) under the Davao City Health Office.
“She is now confined in an isolated bedroom at her residence and will continue to work through emails, messaging, and videotelecon,” a city hall statement released on Thursday reads.
The decision came after Mayor Duterte held a lunch meeting Wednesday in Manila with Senator Sherwin Gatchalian, who announced that he would go into self-quarantine as he personally interacted with a person who tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).
He said the person attended a hearing of the Committee on Basic Education, Arts and Culture on March 5.
However, Gatchalian said that he felt healthy and asymptomatic but would follow the protocol for safety purposes.
The presidential daughter, on the other hand, was not suffering from flu-like symptoms but chose to undergo self-quarantine to protect others if she may be found to be sick.
It was also revealed that one of the mayor’s employees at their residence was unwell on Wednesday night and is now also listed as PUM.
“All those who need the attention of the Mayor may directly message her through her mobile number,” the statement added. (PNA)
