The Davao de Oro provincial government showcased its locally-made products as it opened the tourism month celebration at the capitol grounds in Nabunturan town Monday.

Christine Dompor, provincial senior tourism officer, said they have showcased the “Tatak Davao de Oro” products and services dubbed as “TurisTiange.”

“TurisTiange marks the official kick-off of the month-long celebration,” Dompor said in a statement.

The municipalities showcasing their products are Compostela, Nabunturan, Maragusan, Mabini, Maco and Pantukan. Their stalls are located at the provincial capitol lobby.

Dompor said more tourism-related activities will take place this month, including tourism training, the opening of the ice cream festival, the “Turismo” awards, and the launching of DdO circuits.

During the opening ceremony, Governor Dorothy Gonzaga said the provincial government will continue to develop and enhance the tourism industry as an economic driver in the province.

“We are fortunate that we have three tourism circuits in this province that we can be proud of. We are doing our best to improve and develop the tourism industry here,” Gonzaga said.

Recently, the Department of Tourism in the Davao Region (DOT-11) has certified Davao de Oro province as an important tourism destination area.

With the recognition, the DOT-11 said the province is now included in the National and Regional Tourism Development Plan dubbed “The Colors of Mindanao” campaign, and the Tourism Promotion Board in its profile-raising activities.

Davao de Oro is also recognized for its contribution to the regional tourists’ receipts, stay, and arrivals as it bounces back from the effects of the pandemic. (PNA)
