The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Caraga (DSWD-13) has begun inspecting and delivering Alternative Meals supplies for its Batang Nutri-Care Supplementary Feeding Program (SFP), set to benefit thousands of children across the region.

In a statement Wednesday, the agency said 72,881 children from 73 local government units (LGUs) will directly benefit from the initiative.

The feeding program will run for 180 days with a budget of PHP327,964,500, equivalent to PHP25 per child per day.

DSWD-13 noted that the Alternative Meals will serve as supplemental food for children enrolled in Child Development Centers and Supervised Neighborhood Play.

“This measure ensures the continuous provision of nutritious meals throughout the implementation of the feeding program,” the agency said.

Aside from inspecting and inventorying the supplies, personnel are coordinating with LGUs to ensure smooth implementation.

“DSWD Caraga remains committed to working closely with LGUs and stakeholders to guarantee timely delivery, proper management, and efficient use of food supplies, ultimately improving nutrition and well-being among children,” the agency added. (PNA)
