This capital town of Antique province will open a night market that will consolidate micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in one place and provide consumers the opportunity to shop and dine out every Friday and Saturday starting Sept. 30, 2022.

Municipal Economic Enterprise and Development Officer (MEEDO) Darcy Bungay, in an interview Tuesday, said the night market at the Business Park will start at 4 p.m.

The lengthened store hours are expected to help boost the income of MSMEs.

“There will be 36 merchants or MSMEs that will be selling food and non-food items at the night market,” he said.

The participants included eight food vendors or restaurants that will be selling local delicacies as well as Japanese, Korean and Thai dishes.

Around 28 other MSMEs will be selling non-food items such as shoes, bags, and other apparel.

“The night market has been conceptualized by Congressman Antonio Agapito ‘AA” Legarda with Mayor Elmer Untaran in order to provide (an) avenue for people who have no time to shop or buy their needs during day time to do so at night,” Bungay said.

People working during the daytime could still go to the Business Park because of the lengthened store hours, he added.

Bungay said guests from other provinces are also welcome to buy something or eat out at night because of the early closing of stores, restaurants, and other establishments in the province.

Sporting events like basketball and sepak takraw will also be held during the night market to entertain visitors, he said. (PNA)
