Vloggers Philippines began as a community for creators looking for a place to learn, connect, and share their interests. Today, it is moving toward a broader role as an independent digital media platform, with coverage spanning news, entertainment, culture, trends, and features. For founder Danilo Brenio, however, this evolution is not simply about expanding the organization’s reach. It is about finding more ways to serve the creators who made the community possible.

The shift did not happen through a single carefully planned move. Brenio said the media direction developed partly through unexpected connections, including his meeting with film director Perry Escaño, who initially approached him for help promoting a film.

Years later, Escaño became surprised by how much Vloggers Philippines had grown and learned that Brenio was managing the community. He began introducing Brenio to people in the entertainment industry, leading to more opportunities and eventually encouraging the organization to embrace media work.

“Eventually, we embraced the media side,” Brenio said.

He had been moving in that direction since around 2022, driven partly by his own interest in film and entertainment. While strengthening the Vloggers Philippines brand was one consideration, he said he had always viewed it as a media platform for creators and influencers, who are already part of the wider entertainment ecosystem.

The transition, however, has required a different kind of responsibility. Managing a community and publishing media are not the same, and Brenio acknowledges that he is still learning how to handle the demands of both without losing sight of the people who helped build the organization.

“I am still figuring that out as we go,” he said.

Beyond A News Site

Under VPH Media Production, Vloggers Philippines now features dedicated desks for News, Entertainment, Culture, Trends, and Features. The website also carries a monthly Top 10 Content Creators feature, reflecting Brenio’s interest in giving creators greater visibility.

But he does not want the website to become just another news outlet. He sees room for it to feature creators from both within and outside the Vloggers Philippines community, giving the platform a broader role in connecting audiences with people making content.

The current Top 10 Creators list is based on research conducted by Brenio and his team, with particular attention to influence. Still, he is careful not to present the rankings as a definitive measure of a creator’s standing.

“I would not say that the ranking is perfect or final,” he said.

The team also wants to hear from the community, with the aim of making future rankings more accurate and representative. For Brenio, the feature remains a work in progress, much like the website itself.

There are other possibilities being explored under VPH Media Production, including influencer management and freelancing opportunities. Brenio emphasized that these remain plans in development rather than established services, underscoring the early stage of the platform’s expansion.

The direction is still taking shape, but the intention is clear: Vloggers Philippines wants to create opportunities for creators beyond the confines of a social media group.

Bringing The Community Beyond The Screen

Online activity helped Vloggers Philippines bring creators together, particularly during the pandemic. For Brenio, that period demonstrated how an online community could encourage participation even when people could not gather in person.

Vlog Idol Philippines, one of the organization’s major events with Canon Philippines, showed that virtual activities could attract participation and connect creators. Yet physical gatherings had already been part of the vision.

“We wanted these activities to be open to everyone and, eventually, to become more national,” Brenio said. “We also want to bring them to different regions across the Philippines.”

Events such as the Content Creator Fest 2023 with Bloggers of Tuguegarao helped bring that vision into provincial communities. These initiatives were not carried by Brenio and his team alone. Partner communities, including Bloggers of Tuguegarao and Kolab Studios, also played a part, while Canon Philippines supported many of the organization’s events.

Other activities followed, including the Content Creators Ball, Vlog Idol Philippines, Content Creator Awards, and community meet-ups. Each offered another way for creators to connect beyond online interactions.

“I do not want to organise events simply for the sake of having events,” he said. “Whatever comes next should benefit the community as well, not just the Vloggers Philippines name.”

That distinction matters to the broader direction of Vloggers Philippines. As the organization takes on more media and event-related work, its value still depends on whether creators find meaningful opportunities to participate, learn, and build connections.

Learning Without Selling The Promise Of Growth

With more creator groups and coaching services emerging, Brenio has chosen not to position Vloggers Philippines as a paid learning program. The organization does not currently sell courses or coaching packages, and he prefers to help aspiring creators personally when he can.

His guidance can cover practical starting points, from building a personal brand and setting up social media accounts to basic video editing, using a camera, and creating content.

“Instead of immediately making money from people who want to learn, I would rather teach them personally when I can,” he said.

Brenio is also candid about the limits of what he can teach. He does not claim to be an expert in every aspect of content creation, but believes beginners should first understand the basics and the rules before focusing on growth.

That approach differs from services that promise rapid results through spam support or the sale of followers and engagement. Vloggers Philippines, he said, remains free to join, with learning coming not only from its founder but also from members and people with different areas of expertise.

“I am not an expert in everything. I do not want to pretend that I am,” Brenio said.

His position reflects the kind of community he wants to maintain. Rather than making growth the product, Vloggers Philippines aims to give creators a place to learn from one another and develop their skills without paying for promises of instant success.

The model also leaves room for members to contribute what they know. In a community built around creators with different experiences, knowledge does not have to come from a single person.

A Community That Can Continue Without Him

Brenio does not expect to lead Vloggers Philippines forever. While he and his small team still handle most of its work, he hopes the organization will eventually develop a structure that gives other members more opportunities to take the lead.

“In the future, I would like to see members or people from our board given the opportunity to lead it,” he said.

He does not claim to have a fixed picture of what the organization will become. There are still structures to develop, opportunities to open, and lessons to learn. What matters to him is reaching a point where Vloggers Philippines can continue even when he is no longer leading it.

“I do not think I should always be the person running Vloggers Philippines,” Brenio said. “Because, ultimately, I do not want the community to be about me.”

For Brenio, that may be the most meaningful measure of what Vloggers Philippines can become. The organization began with a creator who wanted a place to learn, connect, and find people with similar interests. If future members can offer that same opportunity to newcomers, the community will have fulfilled a purpose beyond its founder’s personal achievements.

As Vloggers Philippines continues to develop its media platform, organize community activities, and explore opportunities for creators, Brenio remains focused on building something that can outlast his own leadership. He does not yet know exactly what the organization will look like years from now, but he hopes its future will be shaped by the people it serves. For him, success is not simply about turning a Facebook group into a media platform. It is about creating a community that continues to open doors for the next generation of Filipino creators, even when its founder is no longer the one leading the way.
