Around 116 corn, rice, and high-value crop farmers in Davao de Oro received fuel discount cards worth PHP3,000 from the Department of Agriculture-Davao (DA-11) on Tuesday.

The distribution covered 78 beneficiaries in Monkayo, 23 in Montevista, 12 in Nabunturan, and three in New Bataan.

During the distribution in Nabunturan town, DA-11 Regional Director Macario Gonzaga said the activity reflects the agency’s commitment to delivering timely support services to ensure sustained agricultural productivity in the province.

The program provides financial assistance to help offset fuel expenses essential for farming and fishing operations.

“It is important to note that this caravan is also a validation protocol. We are here to ensure that the resources of the government reach the right hands with precision and integrity,” Gonzaga added.

Beneficiaries received the DA Intervention Monitoring Card (IMC) pre-loaded with PHP3,000. The non-convertible digital credit is specifically designed to power tractors, pump sets, and other essential machinery.

“We are actively pivoting toward mechanization as a core strategy,” Gonzaga said.

To maintain eligibility, the regional director reminded farmers of the “three pillars of registry”: integration into the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA), active membership in farmer cooperatives and associations (FCAs), and verified ownership or rental of functional farm machinery.

“By aligning with these parameters, you ensure that your farming operations remain resilient and technologically optimized for the challenges of 2026 and beyond,” he added.

The Fuel Discount Program, implemented in partnership with the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP), provides registered farmers with assistance for the operation of various agricultural equipment. (PNA)
