The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) on Thursday led the ceremonial signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the implementation of the 2025 Local Government Support Fund (LGSF)–Green Green Green Program.

The MOU was signed in a ceremony at the DBM Boncodin Hall in San Miguel, Manila, as part of the Marcos administration’s commitment to building greener, more resilient, and sustainable communities.

DBM Secretary Amenah Pangandaman, Human Settlements Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling, and Metropolitan Manila Development Authority chairperson Romando Artes were among the MOU signatories.

The Green Green Green Program under the LGSF is designed to support beneficiary provinces, cities, and municipalities in promoting green open spaces and infrastructure projects for active mobility.

The program aims to create greener, more vibrant, and well-connected public open spaces, fostering an active lifestyle and enhancing the overall wellness of the community.

In May, the DBM released a budget circular, prescribing guidelines on the release and utilization of the PHP700 million appropriated for the LGSF–Green Green Green program for this year.

The fund is earmarked for the construction, rehabilitation, and upgrade of projects such as green open spaces, which include public parks and plazas, nature and family/recreational parks, arboretum, botanical gardens, and river esplanades.

The budget will also be used for the construction of infrastructure for active mobility, such as physically separated bicycle lanes; bike racks; elevated or at-grade pedestrian footpaths and walkways; sports facilities; and recreational trails. (PNA)
