The provincial government of Albay distributed 900 sacks of rice to the 18 local government units (LGUs) affected by recent weather disturbances.

In a report on Friday, the Albay Provincial Information Office said each LGU received 50 sacks of rice with 50 kg. each.

The rice was distributed — some picked it up at NFA warehouses in Legazpi and Tabaco, while others were delivered using trucks.

The LGUs of Tiwi, Malinao, Tabaco City, Malilipot, Sto. Domingo, Bacacay, Legazpi, Daraga, Camalig, Guinobatan, Oas, Ligao, and Pio. Duran, had already received 50 sacks of rice each last week as supply augmentation for their ongoing relief operation efforts.

Jovellar and Libon received assistance on July 30 while the remaining 150 sacks of assistance will be turned over to three LGUs, particularly the municipalities of Rapu-Rapu, Manito, and Polangui, this week.

In a statement, Albay Governor Noel Rosal highlighted that the supplies are part of the province support to the LGUs’ relief efforts.

“This supply in the province is only to help the LGUs, the LGUs have prepositioned supplies, they are given or they have allocated funds which is part of their disaster management—prepositioning of goods,” he said. (PNA)
