Over 5,000 job vacancies were offered during the one-day job fair held at the SM City Urdaneta Central Wednesday.

Pangasinan Public Employment Services Office head Richelle Raguindin, in an interview, said they are still collating data on how many were hired during the day.

About 31 local employers and two overseas employers participated in the job fair, she said.

“In a job fair, we gather all the employers in one venue so the job seekers need not go around in the offices of the companies, and they would be able to save time, effort, and money,” she said.

Raguidin said job fairs are conducted to further reduce the province’s unemployment rate.

Provincial government data show employment rate in the province is at 95.2 percent as of April 2025, lower than the 96.5 percent in the same month in 2024, she said.

Unemployment rate during the same period is at 4.8 percent against the 3.5 percent in April 2024, which Raguidin said may have been affected by the number of graduates as of the last school year. (PNA)
