The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has approved the creation of 102 medical and support positions for the Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC).

“The new 102 items will be distributed in various units within the VMMC, which constitute the second tranche of the 204 positions previously approved by the DBM in 2024,” the DBM said in a news release on Friday.

About 66 of the 102 newly-created items in the VMMC approved by DBM Secretary Amenah Pangandaman will be for the hiring of medical and allied medical personnel, while 36 items will be opened for the administrative and support staff.

In September 2024, the DBM approved the creation of 204 positions in the VMMC to augment its existing staff, which would be pursued in two tranches.

The DBM said the creation of the second tranche of the approved positions in the VMMC will be subject to the filling of the first batch of the created items in the medical center.

The creation of the new posts adheres to the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to further improve health services for Filipino veterans.

“By providing quality medical service to our veterans, retired military personnel, and their beneficiaries, we are honoring their life of service with dignity and respect,” Pangandaman said.

The VMMC is a Level III, 766-bed capacity hospital mandated to provide premium medical services to veterans and retired military personnel, as well as their dependents, through a comprehensive health care system. (PNA)
