The National Housing Authority in the Davao region (NHA 11) has completed PHP500 million worth of housing projects from 2022 to October 2024, totaling 3,073 units, with 1,950 allocated for indigenous peoples (IPs).

In a press briefing, Engr. Fileleo Beltran, NHA-11 acting administrative officer, reported that for IP-specific housing, 691 units were completed in 2022, 906 in 2023, and 353 so far in 2024.

“Our projects vary by program, and Region 11 has seen a significant number of IP housing initiatives,” Beltran said.

Beltran added that approximately 800 IP housing units are under construction and are targeted for completion in the first half of 2025. These units represent an additional PHP200 million investment.

According to Beltran, IP housing projects are initiated by requests to NHA-11 from various local government units (LGUs).

“The tribal chieftain requests the housing project through the LGU, which then endorses it to us. We review the proposal and secure funding through the General Appropriations Act (GAA),” he explained.

Once the NHA-11 receives the necessary documents from the LGU, the budget is released for project implementation, Beltran added. (PNA)
