Viewers of “Can’t Buy Me Love” were stunned when Kaila Estradaโ€™s character, Bettina, was unmasked as the series’ unexpected killer in the popular series, a revelation that she herself was unaware of until the final days of taping.

Throughout the series, viewers kept guessing the identity of the elusive killer, and Kaila delivered a performance that did not disappoint. Reflecting on her character, Kaila expressed gratitude for the plot twist and impactful ending of the series.

“Nagulat din ako. It was quite an interesting experience since we did not know what would happen until a few days before we shot the ending. I did not know Bettina was the killer,” she said.

Kaila also revealed the innovative approach taken by the production team, which kept the killer’s identity from the cast until the eleventh hour.

“For the finale week, we did not have a copy of the final script. Ganun siya ka-secret. We would show up sa taping and ibibigay yung sequences that day at doon na rin namin babasahin. It was a completely different way of working, and I felt it added to the suspense. Naging sobrang raw din ng emotions ng lahat at high stress. I think it worked well,” she shared.

Portraying the middle child in the series struck a personal chord with Kaila, who formed a deep connection with Bettina. She finds fulfillment in knowing that her character has resonated with audiences and provided comfort to some.

“I guess with her last monologue, I can relate to some of her lines, being a middle child myself. Sobrang natuwa rin ako when I received tweets that they could relate to Bettina and what she was going through, especially some people said that hearing that or watching that scene healed their inner child. It feels so good, and it is something that I’m proud of, and I’m so happy to be given that opportunity to do that,” she said.

As viewers continue to talk about the big revelation, they can explore the other potential killers and enjoy the wedding video of Caroline (Belle Mariano) and Bingo (Donny Pangilinan), which will be available by Tuesday (May 14), 7 PM (MNL time), by joining the Super Kapamilya of ABS-CBN’s Entertainment YouTube channel.
