Townsfolk in the southern tourism corridor will showcase their religious cultural heritage in the upcoming “Suroy-Suroy Sugbo”, Governor Gwendolyn Garcia on Friday said.

Garcia convened the mayors in the provincial capitol to discuss preparations for the three-day tourism escapade on Nov. 30 to Dec. 2, highlighting each town’s delicacy, culture, arts, and heritage.

The activity dubbed “Southern Heritage Trail” would showcase religious sites such as century-old churches in Talisay City, Minglanilla, Naga City, San Fernando, Carcar, Sibonga, Argao, Dalaguete, Boljoon, and Oslob.

The governor urged the mayors to coordinate with parish priests in preparing their churches, citing the age-old retablo, chandelier, and sacred images that would serve as major attractions for their respective guests.

“Let’s create an unforgettable heritage adventure that will create memories of a lifetime for our visitors,” Garcia said in Cebuano during the coordination meeting.

According to the Cebu Provincial Tourism Office, registration for the Suroy-Suroy sa Sugbo is now open for visitors and tourists who want to experience life in the south of Cebu.

Depending on the type of accommodation in this tour, each visitor will pay between PHP11,650 and PHP14,850, which covers meals, lodging, a tour kit, and accredited Department of Tourism tour guides.

The kickoff will be held in Minglanilla town, the Easter Sunday capital of the province.

From Minglanilla, the delegates will ride tourist buses, hopping from San Fernando, Sibonga, Argao, Dalaguete, Alcoy, to Boljoon on the first day.

On the second day, the guests will tour the towns of Oslob, Santander, Samboan, Ginatilan, Malabuyoc, Alegria, Badian, and Moalboal.

The guests will be treated to an excursion-like program that will end in Alcantara, Ronda, Dumanjug, and Barili, and the cities of Carcar, Naga, and Talisay. (PNA)
