Another victory has been set by Filipino athletes after winning the silver and bronze medals at the Asian Roundnet Federation (ARF) Cup 2023 in Indonesia.

On the recently held ARF Cup 23 last September 21 to 24, both the women’s and men’s teams from the Philippines aced during the competition with other international athletes as they got to the podium after gathering outstanding scores.

For the women’s division, the Pinays that participated were able to clinch two silver medals for the country for both the women’s division and the mixed division.

The women’s round net team for the Philippines was composed of female athletes that originated from Dumaguete and Negros Oriental, namely Daugn Manhilot, Frances Navera, Aileen Anlap, EJ Sienes, Maika Solomon, Paula Rubio, Alexa Gasendo, Alyssa Araco, Scarlette Sumampong, Jesse Lee Apor, Clarhes Chiu, and Andrea Salinas.

For the men’s round net team, the players were a mix of Filipinos that came from Manila, Negros Oriental, Bayawan, and Dumaguete. This group involved players such as Janixter Jordan, Khien Cortez, Dominic Roy Duot, and Victor Domingo.

The performance of the Philippine team during the said event was considered to be outstanding, noting that they not only brought home medals and recognition for the country but also competed with known athletes on the field from countries such as Australia, Hong Kong, and Japan.

Recognizing their dedication and sacrifices to raise the country’s flag during the competition, the organization of the Round Net Philippines expressed its gratitude to the athletes.

“Your incredible performance has earned respect and admiration nationwide. Let’s keep the momentum going and aim for the top next time,” Round Net Philippines captioned their Facebook post.

The presence of the sport of round net in the Philippines became known in 2015 when it was introduced in Dumaguete City. Hence, other parts of the Philippines, such as Cebu, had knowledge about the sport just recently, as it was not demonstrated on other premises back then.

Up until now, organizations and authorities have found ways to highlight the presence of round-net sports to encourage Filipinos to participate in such competitions and showcase Pinoy skills.
