Heads up, travelers! New Zealand is ready to welcome you again. Two years after the COVID-19 pandemic hit the world, the island nation has finally fully opened its borders again to foreign visitors, including Filipinos.

In a Facebook post, the New Zealand embassy shared the good news along with the instructions for travel applications.

The New Zealand government first opened its doors to vaccinated citizens earlier in February. Since then, their travel restrictions have eased.

According to the embassy’s post, those who are planning to fly to the country must secure the following: their valid passport, visa, vaccine requirements, travel insurance, and traveler’s declaration.

For the vaccination requirements, travelers must present a digital or paper vaccine certificate issued by a government health authority confirming that they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Travelers must meet COVID-19 vaccination requirements and are highly encouraged to be up-to-date with their vaccines prior to traveling.

Those who are New Zealand citizens who have a New Zealand residence class visa, an Australian citizen living in New Zealand, or a child under age 16 are not required to have proof of vaccination.

New Zealand ambassador to the Philippines Peter Kell also took to Twitter to announce the information. “Haere Mai! [Maori phrase for “welcome”] We look forward to welcoming you & excited kaming muling ibahagi ang ganda ng NZ!” he wrote.
