The relaxing vibe of a typical coffee shop was brought to a classroom by a senior high school teacher in Lupi, Camarines Sur.

A 26-year-old teacher from Colacling National High School, Francis Quirona, is behind this one-of-a-kind classroom design in preparation for the upcoming face-to-face classes.

When entering the classroom, you will immediately feel a different vibe, contrary to what we usually feel when entering a classroom. It offers a much more relaxing and cozier vibe from the soft lights of the room.

Like Café’s, the room also has its own pantry where students can get free snacks to eat and can also share their “baon” with their classmates. There is also an area that serves as a reading corner for students that has the Oplan Kalusugan flagships by the Department of Education. The teacher also provides an extensive collection of encyclopedia books of knowledge for the reading corner.

The usual classroom seats also have their own water bottle holder for students’ easier access when the water bell in the classroom rings, a reminder for the students to drink water and stay hydrated. The teacher’s area also feels like a café counter, but instead of a cashier and an espresso machine, the teacher’s personal things are in there. There is also a QR code in front of the classroom for easy access to the teacher’s contact information.

There is also an Enhanced Basic Education Information System (EBEIS) corner or a module cabinet where he keeps the modules and other important learning materials needed for his class. The area also has a welcome chair with foam for comfort, and under the seat is where the guest slippers and cleaning materials are kept. There is also a Smart TV for Screen Mirroring and is HDMI Connection Ready, an amplifier, a Bluetooth speaker, and a wireless microphone so the teacher can walk around while discussing.

Quirona also prioritizes safety as he also included a temperature scanner, no contact alcohol dispenser, toiletries, hand dryer, and a complete medicine cabinet for emergency use. This is also to follow the health and safety protocols of the school to avoid the risk of having COVID-19.

Quirona hopes that this will spark inspiration for other teachers and advises them to just be resourceful, be more creative for the children, and love them.
