Women entrepreneurs in Muntinlupa are set to benefit from a PHP4-million investment upgrade for the Muntinlupa Training and Resource Center for Women (MTRCW), the Department of Agriculture (DA) said on Thursday.

In a statement, DA Assistant Secretary for Agribusiness, Marketing, and Consumer Affairs Genevieve Velicaria-Guevarra said the move to modernize the local food hub is to empower women and make them an engine of growth for the local economy as the country celebrates National Women’s Month.

The DA released PHP2.5 million through its KADIWA Financial Grant Assistance Program, while the Muntinlupa LGU added PHP1.5 million.

“This isn’t just a turnover of equipment. It’s a concrete step to empower women, enhance income, and strengthen food security in the community,” she said.

Muntinlupa Mayor Ruffy Biazon lauded the national government for its direct support, which will allow the food hub’s expanded impact and boost market competitiveness.

“This assistance strengthens Muntinlupa’s economy and uplifts our women. Programs like this make a tangible difference for the community,” he said.

The upgraded food hub features state-of-the-art meat and fish processing equipment, which will help them produce preservative-free tapa, tocino, longganisa, bangus, and other value-added products. (PNA)
