Officials from the Bureau of the Treasury (BTr) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) recently met to reaffirm their partnership and sustained institutional engagement.

The meeting held on Wednesday aimed to assess ongoing collaboration and strengthen coordination on the BTr’s key reform priorities.

“Discussions centered on public financial management reforms and opportunities to deepen technical cooperation in areas such as treasury management,” the BTr said in a statement Thursday.

National Treasurer Sharon Almanza and Deputy Treasurer Kenneth Ian Francisco attended for the BTr, while the IMF was represented by Executive Director (ED) for Japan Jun Mizuguchi, Deputy Division Chief for the Asia Pacific Department Dennis Botman, and Deputy Division Chief of Public Financial Management II Maximilien Queyranne.

During the meeting, Almanza also welcomed Japan’s support for the BTr through the IMF, as well as for other critical fiscal reforms that require continued technical assistance.

The BTr said the meeting was part of both institutions’ commitment to promoting sound fiscal governance and transparency in support of the country’s long-term economic stability. (PNA)
