President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday named new officers-in-charge (OIC) to oversee the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).

In a press statement, acting presidential spokesperson and Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said Duterte has designated DAR Undersecretary David Erro as OIC of DAR.

Erro will replace Bernie Cruz who served as acting Secretary of DAR following the resignation of John Castriciones to run for senator in the May 2022 elections.

Duterte also designated Assistant Secretary Joselin Marcus Fragada as OIC of DENR.

Fragada will replace Jim Sampulna, who became acting DENR secretary after Roy Cimatu resigned in February 2022 due to health reasons.

Both designations came just seven days before the end of Duterte’s six-year term on June 30.

President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has designated ABONO Partylist Rep. Conrado Estrella III as his DAR Secretary.

He has yet to name his DENR Secretary.

Malacañang did not explain the reason for the new designations. (PNA)
