The city government has continued distributing the Local Social Amelioration Program (LSAP) to sectors affected by the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic here.

Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar said Thursday the latest recipients of LSAP are the senior citizens who are not beneficiaries of other forms of assistance or social pensions and pedicab drivers.

“The cash assistance from the city government is intended help alleviate the plight of the recipients amidst the health pandemic,” Salazar said

The release of the financial assistance started Wednesday, she said.

She said each elderly received PHP6,000 financial aid. They were identified by the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).

Meanwhile, Salazar said each of the 954 pedicab drivers received PHP1,500 cash assistance from the city government.

They were identified through the help of the barangay officials, who oversee the operation of pedicabs in their respective villages.

The senior citizens and pedicab drivers are fourth and fifth groups, respectively, who received LSAP financial assistance from the city government.

The first group was the drivers of public utility jeepney, followed second by the tricycle drivers, and third, the lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, and transgender community. (PNA)
