A total of 231 new police recruits took their oath as members of the Police Regional Office (PRO) 3 (Central Luzon) at the parade grounds here on Friday.

PRO-3 Director, Brig. Gen. Valeriano T. de Leon, administered the oath of office to the recruits following their presentation by Col. Joyce Patrick Sangalang, chief of the Regional Personnel and Records Management Division.

The 231 successful applicants will fill up the slots for the Patrolman Attrition Quota for CY 2021 to increase police manpower strength, improve the police-to-population ratio, and enhance the police visibility program and anti-insurgency operation of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

De Leon, in his message, told the new PRO-3 members to strive hard to become instruments of change and fulfill the goals of the PNP.

“Huwag ninyong sasayangin ang pagkakataong ibinigay sa inyo at lagi ninyong alalahanin na madami ang ipinatawag upang umanib, ngunit kayo ang pinalad na mahirang (Do not waste the opportunities given to you and always remember that many were called to join but you are fortunate to be chosen),” he said.

The new police personnel were chosen after a stringent screening process conducted by the Regional Screening Committee on Recruitment headed by Brig. Gen. Narciso Domingo, PRO-3 deputy director for administration.

After their oathtaking ceremony, the new police recruits will further undergo one-year training at the Regional Training School 3 in Magalang town, this province. (PNA)
