At least 1,400,793 Bulakenyos have been vaccinated against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) in this province, the Provincial Health Office (PHO) said on Friday.

Patricia Alvaro, PHO information officer, said 749,375 residents of the province received their first dose while 651,418 have been fully vaccinated.

For individuals under the A1 priority group or medical practitioners and hospital staff, a total of 53,546 were fully vaccinated while 56,226 got their first jabs.

On the other hand, there were 183,115 senior citizens under the A2 priority group have completed the vaccination while 149,504 had the first dose.

For those persons with comorbidities under the A3 category, a total of 169,721 were fully inoculated while 168,850 got their first jabs.

Likewise, a total of 355,618 economic workers or those belonging to the A4 category received their first shot while 232,618 have completed the vaccine.

May Lynn Gozun, provincial director of the Department of Labor and Employment, said the high number of vaccinated Bulakenyos under the A4 category is due to the intensified drive for the inoculation of work sector members under the National Employment Recovery Strategy (NERS) 2021-2022 which started last September 23.

Meanwhile, vaccination for individuals under the A5 category continues with 12,418 having already completed the two doses and 19,177 received the initial dose.

“They are the poorest families identified in the National Household Targeting System of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD),” Alvaro said in an interview. (PNA)
