After being one of the top bets to win this year’s Miss Universe Philippines 2020, Miss Quezon City Michelle Gumabao said she has no regrets joining the pageant despite not being able to bag the crown again.

The volleyball player also joined the Binibining Pilipinas 2018 pageant, along with the winning roster Catriona Gray and Karen Gallman.

Her controversial exit during the watch party of the pageant was also questioned by the fans, but she answered by saying, “I left this morning sa BCC (Baguio Country Club) while the pageant was ongoing. I knew who won last night pa I tried to go to our viewing party but everyone kept asking what happened all the hugs all the looks I couldn’t handle that.”

She also debunked accusations of her being a “sore loser”, stating, “I can handle defeat hahahaha. I can’t handle the people asking me why why why…I’m sharing this with you because you deserve to know my side, we don’t need to defend to anyone. I did my best and I have no regrets.”

Her pageant camp, Aces and Queens, also released a statement from Michelle expressing her gratitude to her supporters.

Actor and brother Marco Gumabao, also congratulated Michelle in an Instagram story with the text, “Proud of you! Of course, I don’t agree with the decision, but now’s not the time to be bitter about it. I know this is God’s plan. We’re just getting started.”

Gumabao was hailed as the second runner up of the Miss Universe Philippines 2020.
