Manila Mayor Francisco ‘Isko Moreno” Domagoso on Monday revealed that three ranking officials of the city tested positive for the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

“Today is one of the saddest moment of our city government because three of our key officials in the city of Manila is positively infected by Covid-19. So you know, to prove our claim that nobody is excused from this deadly virus,” Domagoso said during the regular flag-raising ceremony.

He, meanwhile, announced that he and Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan turned out negative based on swab test results.

In a statement, the Manila Public Information Office said the city government immediately conducted contact tracing of those who had an encounter with the three officials.

All department heads of the Manila City Hall were likewise required to undergo rapid testing to check if they are not infected.

The identities of the three officials were not disclosed, but the statement said that two of them are department heads and the other is a councilor.

The city government is still enforcing a 50-percent skeletal force of all its employees, which means that the change of shifting is done every two weeks.

Domagoso also reminded that everyone should continue practicing the imposed health protocols like the wearing of face masks, washing of hands, and the safe physical distancing as the Covid-19 threat remains.

“Gusto kong ipaalala sa lahat na talaga pong napakadelikado ng Covid-19. Lagi pong pinapaalala na itoy walang pinipiling tao, walang pinipiling katayuan sa buhay, bata, middle ager, matanda, maysakit o wala malusog o hindi, sikat o hindi, may kapangyarhian o wala, lahat pwedeng ma-expose sa virus na ito (I want to remind everyone how dangerous Covid-19 is. Everyone may be infected regardless of age, social status, famous or not. Anyone may be exposed to the virus),” Domagoso said. (PNA)
