Motivated by a mission to provide refuge to exhausted frontliners who are battling the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Joven Cuanang has developed the Inn Project.

While many Filipinos are confined in the safety of their homes, healthcare workers confront the virus head on. However, despite their efforts, many of our heroes are being shunned by neighbors and landlords, fearful of being contaminated.

Thankfully, the Inn Project has come into fruition. Initiated by the former Medical Director of St. Luke’s Medical Center, Dr. Joven Cuanang, the project appeals to all religious denominations to open their facilities to house and feed medical frontliners, as well as to provide spiritual uplifting at this crucial time. Amid this crisis, it is only right and just to provide ease to our first line of defense whose willingness to serve the public is unwavering.

“The Church has room. The Church has hospitals. We know the Catholic Church is praying for its flock and feeding the poor. Might we suggest that the Catholic Church allow its churches to be used as temporary housing and additional facilities for the front-liners?”, Cuanang said.

As the respected Neurologist heeds this call, more doors opened for the workforces; Institutions such as Pope Pius XII Catholic Center, OB Montessori Centers in Greenhills, Sta. Ana, Fairview, Las Piñas and Angeles City. Meanwhile, the RVM Sisters of St. Mary’s College offered its dormitories and classrooms.

“I am locked in Pinto like a monk but my thoughts are with the doctors, nurses, lab technicians, guards, janitors, office workers who bravely face these dangerous days,” he said. “If I were younger, I definitely would be at the front lines.”
