Makati Medical Center (MMC) ‘takes note’ of Senator Koko Pimentel’s apology, a day after releasing a heated statement towards him.

“We denounce the irresponsible and reckless action of the senator. He added to the burden of a hospital trying to respond in its most competent and aggressive manner to cope with the daunting challenges of this COVID-19 outbreak,” the March 25 statement read.

A day later, the medical institution followed up with a statement titled Where The Focus Really Matters, where MMC Medical Director Dr. Saturnino Javier addressed the “outpouring of support” from the medical community.

However, despite acknowledging the senator’s regret, the medical institution still believes that a breach of quarantine protocol was done.

“Let us move forward and I urge the MMC community to focus our energies, skills and passion once again toward conquering the virulent pathogen controlling us – Covid-19. I hope that in our magnanimity, we will all be rewarded with more blessings as we face the real enemy,” Dr. Javier concluded.

Sen. Pimentel is currently under fire for violation of quarantine protocols. After announcing that he is COVID-19 positive, rumors circulated that he still exposed himself to the public just a few days after taking the test. As of March 26 (8PM), it was confirmed that his whereabouts in the midst of self-quarantine were S&R in BGC and Makati Medical Center.
