11. Company Policy

More often than not, this reason is out of your control. Company policies on promotions are usually set as to ensure that everyone gets an equal chance and only the best are considered for higher positions. An example of a company policy that could hinder you from getting promoted is their need to have had you as an employee or a specific amount of time or more before you can be considered for a promotion. Other policies considered in promotion in the workplace include age restrictions and job group hierarchies. This reason requires patience as there is usually not much that you can do about it. It is however important to ensure that you meet the company’s qualifications before applying for a post.
