In 2008, a Rizal Park was unveiled in Lima at the end of the 16th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit. The bust of the national hero found in the park was donated by a German national named Hans Gunter Schoof who greatly admired Rizal. Additionally, it was designed by the Czech sculptor Libor Piszlac who hails from Litoměřice, much like Rizal’s close friend Blumentritt
