Much like the Czech Republic, Honolulu also has two monuments of Rizal: a bust in front of the Philippine Consulate General and a statue in thelocal Chinatown. While Rizal himself did not set foot in Hawaii, many Filipinos living in the area continue to honor his memory. The Knights of Rizal–an organization dedicated to promoting the study and practice of Rizalian ideals–have an established chapter in Hawaii. This coming August, the University of Hawaii at Manoa Center for Philippine Studies will even be holding a conference on Rizal in the contemporary era.
