“Super Thanks enables fans to support their favorite channels while giving creators access to a new source of revenue,” Barbara Macdonald, YouTube’s Product Manager for Paid Digital Goods said.

Macdonald regards YouTube creators as “the heart of what we do here at YouTube”.

“We’re constantly exploring new ways to help them get started, grow their businesses, and diversify their revenue. In fact, we offer a multitude of ways that creators can make money on our platform,” she added.

Super Thanks may be purchased for USD 2 (PHP 100), USD 5 (PHP 250), USD 10 (PHP 500), or USD 50 (PHP 2,500) as a means for fans to express thanks and support their favorite YouTube channels.

Following a purchase, a highlighted comment will appear on the YouTube video, allowing the creator to respond and connect with the fan.

After Super Chat, Super Stickers, and channel memberships, Super Thanks is Youtube’s fourth paid digital good, giving artists another option to earn money while also strengthening interactions with viewers.

As of writing, the Super Thanks feature is still under improvement. Regardless, it is already available for thousands of content creators in 68 countries, including the Philippines.

The feature’s availability to eligible YouTube Partner Program creators will be increased later this year, according to YouTube.
