The Yaman ng Kalusugan (YAKAP) caravan benefitted 200 learners and teachers in Bohol province on Friday, according to the Department of Education (DepEd).

The initiative coincided with the visit of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and Education Secretary Sonny Angara to Mandaug Elementary School in Calape town.

“About 100 learners and 100 teaching and non-teaching personnel were provided with services under the YAKAP program,” DepEd Media Relations chief Dennis Legaspi said in a Viber message.

YAKAP is the expanded Konsulta (consultation) program of the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) to ensure the welfare of learners and teachers, as support to advancing quality education.

Beneficiaries received PhilHealth registration, vital signs assessment, doctor’s consultation and free medicines.

Mandaug Elementary School has 338 enrolled learners and 16 public school teachers.

DepEd said the Bohol caravan was its fifth collaboration with PhilHealth since June, following similar rollouts in Aurora, Calumpit and Hagonoy in Bulacan, and Quezon City. (PNA)
