Albay province is all set to host the 96th National Assembly of the League of Vice Governors of the Philippines from Feb. 28 to March 2.

In an interview on Tuesday, Vice Governor Glenda Bongao said the gatherings of all the deputy governors in the country will help boost the province’s tourism and local economy.

“Malaki ang magiging impact nito for the province (This will have a big impact for the province) since not just the vice governors, they will have their entourage to help promote the province. If they have a wonderful experience in the province, for sure in the future they can include Albay in their itineraries with their families, and their councils and even recommend it,” she said.

She said at least 120 participants already confirmed their attendance and participation in the event.

“We also tapped the Department of Trade and Industry to set up a product display in the venue, since some participants requested pili products, especially salted pili, bags, and taste the flavors of Albay like the pinangat, sili ice cream. We will let them experience what Albay can offer,” Bongao said.

One of the event’s highlights is the plenary session that will discuss topics on anti-poverty and Albay local governance, resilience, and disaster risk management, being a model province in disaster risk management.

The participants will also visit various tourist destinations in the province such as the giant statue of Nuestra SeĂąora de Salvacion in Barangay Pawa, Legazpi City; Sumlang Lake and Quituinan Ranch in Camalig town; and Cagsawa Ruins and Bicol National Museum in Daraga.

Among the confirmed attendees are the vice governors of Laguna, Ilocos Norte, Apayao, Zamboanga del Sur, Surigao del Sur, Sarangani, Capiz, Benguet, North Cotabato, South Cotabato and Zamboanga Sibugay, among others. (PNA)
