A tricycle caught fire while in motion in Pateros, prompting a swift and coordinated response from bystanders that ultimately prevented the incident from escalating.

The fire broke out unexpectedly while the tricycle was being driven through a local street. Upon noticing the flames, the driver and passenger immediately abandoned the vehicle and moved to safety, escaping injury.

As the fire began to grow, a water delivery rider who happened to be passing by on another tricycle stopped to assist. Using the bottled water he was scheduled to deliver, he began pouring it over the flames in an effort to suppress the fire.

His timely intervention helped slow the spread, but it was the arrival of another nearby resident—this time carrying a fire extinguisher—that ultimately brought the fire under control. Several members of the community also stepped in to help, surrounding the vehicle and offering support in whatever way they could.

Authorities have not yet released an official cause of the fire, though no casualties or major property damage were reported.

The incident served as a striking reminder of the effectiveness of community action in emergencies. While the situation was contained through the use of proper firefighting equipment, it was the quick thinking and cooperation of ordinary citizens—including a water delivery rider who chose to act without hesitation—that ensured the fire was extinguished swiftly and safely.
