This small, cozy, corner cafe ‘Manuscript Writing Cafe’ (Genkō shippitsu kafe’ kōshiki pēji), located in Tokyo, only caters to writers that are working around the clock.

The cafe announced that its shop will be open around 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on business days and the final admission is 5 p.m with rates starting at PHP 60 every half hour.

Writers will be given a card upon entry, and writers will have to fill in what goals they have to fulfill before they get themselves comfy with the cafe’s cozy atmosphere.

Once writers have written what manuscripts to catch up with, they will be given three seating plans: four counter seats, four window seats, or one table seat, with each setup to have USB chargers and cooling stands for laptop users.

Manuscript cafe also offers a free drinking corner, where you can boil for your choice of drink: drip coffee, black tea, or Japanese tea, the cafe even has its own smoking corner.

The manager will check your progress every hour of your stay if you decide to stay longer than an hour, and you can’t pay your tab unless you’re completely done with your manuscript.

Takuya Kawai, the cafe’s owner, took to Twitter to publish a photo of the establishment and its main rule that if you want to use the cafe, you must be a writer under a tight deadline.

“The Manuscript Writing Cafe only allows people who have a writing deadline to face! It’s in order to maintain a level of focus and tense atmosphere at the cafe! Thank you for your understanding,” the Japanese post reads.

Do keep in mind that there will be consequences for your wallet if you fail to meet the deadline you’ve set.

Other than that, the owners wish you to experience tensions as if you’re studying for an exam to channel your focus for your work.

Reservations are open for this cafe and can be made 30 days in advance, with more information available on their website, for your next thrilling writing experience.
