Comfort and safety are obviously the major considerations when purchasing a vehicle. With the currently emerging trend for the use of last mile transportation, Bajaj RE is a top choice with regards to those two components. Besides, it can also be personalized according to the owners’ personal liking and creativity.

Pinoy’s attraction towards such craft made custom building a culture. And out of many bike builders, only a few with impeccable dedication, passion, and enthusiasm to such craft last in the said industry. One of those is no other than the first man to land the moon of custom car and motorcycle building in Japan, Yokohama Hot Rod Custom Show by Mooneyes – Jeffrey “Pong” Ylagan of Ylagan Kustom. Coming from the family of skilled and expert industrial fabricators of foot pump model air guns and developer of dentist chairs, it is safe to say how talent truly runs in his blood.

Pong’s vast knowledge in motorcycle fabrication bagged him awards from numerous competitions he has engaged in and upon realizing Japan’s prioritization to disabled persons, he figured out how turning his passion into a cause would greatly help a community close to his heart – Persons with Disability (PWD). His insightful thinking made him realize how Bajaj RE would be a great fit for his so-called Advocacy Project. In an interview, Pong mentioned Bajaj RE’s suitability as a vehicle for the orthopedically disabled stating its legal acceptability on the roads, its safety and security for the PWD driver given its symmetrical built, fuel efficiency and the powerful engine performance that can carry the additional weight brought by the customization. Though the Bajaj RE PWD Transport Vehicle is still in its prototype stage, it already comes with 5 main modifications done to meet the needs of its unique riders:

It has a door that doubles as a rectangle ramp to help the driver get in the vehicle,

Rotating floor with grip tapes to keep the wheelchair in place while driving,

Easy access controls placed on the dashboard area,

And prominent PWD signages located at the sides and rear of the vehicle.

Pong’s creation only proves how versatile he can be as a custom bike builder. He has brought to life an authentic equalizer for the underrepresented sector which promotes inclusivity in the transportation landscape of the Philippines. As stated by him “Kasama ang PWD Community sa Bagong Biyahe”.
