Surigao City collected PHP136.9 million in business taxes from its Business One-Stop-Shop transactions this month, a 25-percent increase from last year.
Revenues surpassed the PHP109.8 million collected during the same period in 2025.
“The figures indicate the upward trend in economic activities here in Surigao City,” Mayor Pablo Yves Dumlao II said during the flag-raising ceremony Monday. “We’re doing things right in Surigao City. Suppliers and businesses are thriving. We need to support them by offering better services.”
He also reported a 14-percent increase in new business registrations — 288 from 204 last year – while renewals rose by 4 percent to 3,914.
The total number of registered businesses in the city now stands at 4,202, up from 3,960 in 2025.
Dumlao urged city employees to foster a good business environment, emphasizing that higher revenues generate more jobs for residents. (PNA)
