Titular cartoon character of the famous Nickelodeon show, “Spongebob Squarepants”, comes out as a member of the LGBTQ+ community member on Pride Month itself.

Spongebob has become a part of this generation’s childhood. It follows the wacky adventures of the former, along with some friends in Bikini Bottom.

According to the announcement Nickelodeon made on social media, Spongebob remains an ally “this month and every month.”

Though the network did not elaborate further on which group Spongebob most identifies with, fans believe that the iconic yellow sponge is most likely asexual.

Aside from Spongebob, Korra from “The Legend of Korra” and Michael Cohen from “Henry Danger” have also been confirmed as allies.
