A safe space and innovation center is eyed for the Ilonggo youth that will serve as a mental and psychological support facility for those youth who are at risk and seeking refuge from sexual abuse and exploitation.

The Uswag Ilonggo regional party-list said that Ilonggo youth will be prioritized by providing them venues to collaborate on projects and initiatives addressing key issues in the region including safe spaces.

A safe space is defined as “a place or environment in which a person or category of people can feel confident that they will not be exposed to discrimination, criticism, harassment, or any other emotional or physical harm.”

Moreover, Uswag Ilonggo is committed to serve the community by creating employment opportunities and providing livelihood trainings related to handicraft, food processing and the likes in different communities all over Western Visayas so that learning will be nurtured especially among youth.

On November 17’s Virtual Sectoral TownHall Meeting hosted by Uswag Ilonggo Regional Party-List, youth leaders from the province of Iloilo raised their concern over increase in pregnancy and school dropout rates which they said are sure to contribute to poverty.
